Global eCooking Accelerator

An Instrument to Rapidly Accelerate eCooking

The Global eCooking Accelerator (GeCA) is an instrument initiated by the international flagship programme for providing energy access, Energising Development (EnDev). GeCA is closely aligned and contributing to the objectives of the Global eCooking Coalition.

Our Purpose

GeCA seeks to enable market development for eCooking in EnDev and GeCCo partner countries. By supporting the adoption of electric cooking, GeCA is enhancing lives and advancing global objectives for clean energy, with the ambition to reach 5 million people transitioning to electric cooking within 5 years.

GeCA’s Role

GeCA is one of the implementing instruments under GeCCo. As a market enabler, GeCA creates awareness and demand, strengthens supply side actors and facilitates a conducive political and regulatory environment. In collaboration with other GeCCo partners, GeCA paves the way for mass transition to electric cooking.

How We Work

GeCA builds upon the experiences as well as in-country structures of the EnDev partnership, which promotes access to electricity and clean cooking. The interventions include results-based financing, innovation grants, access to finance, behaviour change communication, awareness creation, enabling environment measures, and research and learning. To facilitate transition to electric cooking, GeCA aims for a funding of EUR 50 million.
